A case involving suspected international drug trafficking, threats against police officers, and even a claimed family connection to an FBI agent has drawn attention from authorities in both Brazil and the United States. A man with dual citizenship — Brazilian and American — was arrested in Manaus, accused of operating a cocaine‑processing lab inside a luxury condominium.

Josué Gomes de Silva had been under police surveillance for about six months, after neighbors reported a strong chemical odor coming from his apartment. His frequent trips between Brazil and the United States, made easier by his dual nationality, further increased investigators’ suspicions.

Footage recorded by the investigative team shows Josué leaving his building shortly before the arrest, carrying a package that he handed to a man waiting inside a car. Police intercepted the vehicle and confirmed the package contained cocaine. Officers then moved immediately to the suspect’s apartment.

During the arrest, Josué allegedly tried to intimidate the investigators, claiming he would “cause problems” for the officers and insisting he would be released quickly because he was the father of an FBI agent — a statement authorities are still working to verify.

Inside the apartment, police found a fully equipped cocaine‑processing lab, including precision scales, a mechanical press, and capsules commonly used by “mules” who transport drugs on international flights. The discovery reinforced the suspicion that the operation may have been supplying narcotics beyond Brazil’s borders. Investigators also seized both of Josué’s passports — one Brazilian and one American.

He was charged with drug trafficking, and police are now working to determine whether other individuals were involved in the scheme and whether the drugs were indeed destined for the United States or other countries. Authorities say additional investigative steps will help clarify the scale of the operation and any potential international links.
