A Brazilian man with dual Italian citizenship has been deported from the United States after being located and arrested in Florida. He had been convicted in Brazil for the rape of a 4‑year‑old child and fled the country while serving his sentence, later living illegally in the U.S.
A local TV station captured part of the operation that led to the arrest of Denny Marucci, 55. He was detained on June 9 in Tampa by agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Marucci was targeted by a specialized task force focused on identifying foreign nationals considered high‑priority due to risks to public safety.
Authorities say Marucci entered the United States through the Visa Waiver Program, available to Italian citizens, but allegedly failed to disclose his criminal history. He was required to leave the country in 2023 but remained in Florida without legal status.
After his arrest, Marucci was taken to a processing center in Louisiana and later transferred to a military air base in northern Florida for immediate deportation. ICE officials stated he would be handed over to Brazilian authorities to serve the remainder of his 20‑year sentence.
