Brazilian Dental Association Marks Historic U.S. Debut at Orlando Gala
Landmark launch coincides with the closing of Dental Summit 2025, highlighting global expansion and industry impact.
IMMIGRATIONAMERICAN DREAMERS

Orlando, FL — In a night that blended elegance, history, and a bold new chapter for global dentistry, the Brazilian Dental Association (ABO) officially marked its arrival in the United States during the closing gala of the Dental Summit 2025.
Held in the luxurious Porsche showroom, showcasing the brand's most coveted cars, the gala event brought together renowned dental professionals from Brazil and the USA, business leaders, immigration specialists, and Brazilian authorities, all united by a common mission: to strengthen the presence and impact of Brazilian dentistry in the United States.
A Historic Moment for a 106-Year-Old Institution
For the first time in its century-long history, the Associação Brasileira de Odontologia (ABO), one of the world’s most respected dental organizations, is establishing a permanent presence outside Brazil, and Orlando is now officially its home.
“This is more than an expansion,” said Dr. Marcelo Schettini, President of ABO-US. “It is a bridge between nations, a celebration of excellence, and a commitment to supporting every Brazilian dentist who arrives in this country with a dream.”
Representing the leadership from Brazil, Dr. Celso Minervino Russo, President of ABO-Brasil, emphasized the symbolic and strategic importance of the moment:
“The United States faces one of the largest shortages of dental professionals in its history. This is the right time, and Orlando is the right place, for ABO to create opportunities, strengthen careers, and elevate our profession internationally.”
Authorities: Orlando Becomes ‘The Home of Brazilian Dentists in the U.S.’
Brazilian authorities echoed the importance of ABO’s arrival and its role in supporting thousands of professionals navigating the American health system.
Dr. Samir Najjar, Federal Counselor of the Brazilian Federal Council of Dentistry (CFO), celebrated the milestone:
“Today, Orlando officially becomes the home of the Brazilian dentist in the United States. We are here to support, guide, and advocate for our professionals abroad.”
The Consul General of Brazil in Orlando, João Lucas Quental, reinforced the diplomatic significance:
“The presence of ABO in the U.S. strengthens Brazil’s image, opens doors for professional exchange, and supports our community with dignity and representation.”
Community, Industry & Global Leaders Join the Celebration
From business executives to immigration specialists, the event attracted leaders who are shaping the future of dentistry in the Americas.
The surgeon-dentist Paulo De Lucca Mengal highlighted the impact of the Summit:
“This event brings us knowledge, direction, and unity. ABO-US is arriving to fill a real need.”
Monica Ribeiro, Senior Vice President at Seacoast Bank, noted the economic and community benefits:
“We witness so many Brazilian professionals helping expand the healthcare landscape in Florida. ABO-US will only accelerate this positive contribution.”
Representing the corporate sector, Alexei Costa, President of Neodent, added:
“Innovation, science, and global collaboration, that’s what this Summit represents. And that’s exactly what the United States needs from Brazilian dentistry.”
Stories of Dreams, Immigration, and a New Future
Among those traveling from Brazil, dentist Camila Jusevicius shared her motivation:
“I came from São Paulo just to be here. I’m in the early stages of my immigration journey, and seeing this community so united gives me confidence that I’m on the right path.”
From an immigration perspective, attorney Andrea Bower encouraged professionals planning the same move:
“This is the moment. There are legal pathways, new models of credentialing, and a growing need for skilled dentists. The demand in the U.S. is real, and opportunities are expanding.”
Dentist Silvana Chaerin Ziravello, who has already built her career in the U.S., said the arrival of ABO-US brings new momentum:
“I made this journey years ago, and now, with ABO-US here, I feel I can give back even more. We are building a future for the next generation.”
Honoring Legacy: 20 Professionals Recognized
A highlight of the evening was a tribute to 20 professionals whose careers have had a significant impact on communities in Brazil and abroad.
Among them was Dr. Geninho Thomé, celebrated for both his scientific innovations and humanitarian work.
Even listed among Forbes’ global billionaire entrepreneurs, Geninho remains committed to serving vulnerable populations in Brazil.
