Brazilian visual artist Tato Athayde, originally from Rio de Janeiro, is gaining attention in the United States after turning two lifelong passions — golf and Disney animation — into a unique artistic signature that has captured the interest of fans, tourists, and even Disney itself.

Athayde, who previously competed as a high‑level golfer, says the idea emerged naturally. “I wanted to bring together the sport I love with the characters that shaped my childhood,” he explained. His paintings, carved pieces, and decorative panels feature iconic figures such as Mickey, Donald, and Goofy playing golf in whimsical, stylized scenes. The concept quickly became a hit among visitors.

Today, Athayde is one of the artists showcased at EPCOT, where he signs his own pieces and interacts with fans. On Instagram, where he is followed by thousands, he shares behind‑the‑scenes looks at his creative process and the finished works. His visibility continues to grow: in the coming weeks, his art will also be displayed in Disney’s official gallery, which is being reopened inside one of the company’s children’s theme parks.

Athayde says the experience has been “a dream come true,” combining the sport that shaped his early career with the characters that inspired his imagination. His work now stands as one of the most distinctive artistic contributions inside Disney’s parks.
